How
tall do they get?
This
really depends on male or female and whom you buy your giant from.
Many breeders have different interpretations of the standard.
Most giant males today will range from 27-29 inches at the withers
(at the shoulder) and females ranging from 24-27 inches at the
withers. There is a wide scope of heights so you need to ask
your breeder and make sure you get the sex and size dog that fits
your home.

How
much do they weigh?
Much
like height the weight of the dog really depends on whom you buy
your giant from and what type of giant you buy. A real stocky
beefy giant will weigh more then a giant bred to be more elegant.
Bone mass, body, and height are the three things that are going
to determine the overall weight of your giant. Giant males range
from 80-100 pounds typically and females range from 60- 80 pounds
on average. Again your going to need to talk this over with your
breeder to make sure you get the giant that is right for you.

How young do you let your pups go?
I personally
don’t start letting my pups that have had their ears cropped go
till about 12 weeks. This allows the ears to heal and to insure
you get a healthy happy giant.

What
do I do with the ears?
It’s
very important you tape the ears up until the cartilage is set
and the ears stand on their own. The ears don’t stand naturally
and even if the ears are cropped when you get the pup, young pups
will need to have their ears tapped to train the ears to stand.

Do I have to have the ears cropped?
No
you don’t but you have to get in touch with your breeder before
they crop the ears so that they can have an uncroped pup for you.
You may need to put a bigger deposit down since most people want
a cropped pup and if you back out the breeder may have a hard
time cropping that giant now that it’s older.

How
much exercise do they need?
Giants are big working dogs and need a fair share of exercise.
You can take them for walks, play catch, let them free run in
your backyard or anything like that. The bottom line is they
do need exercise and they do need to play. A happy giant is a
tired giant ;-)

How
do you potty Train them?
We crate train. We use a crate and if we are not around
or not home that pup is in the crate. Dogs don’t like to lay
in their own waste so they learn to hold it when you’re not around
to take them out. Keeping them in the crate is the best way to
train because it’s very difficult to discipline after the fact.
If your around and they have an accident you’re their to discipline
and tell them it’s not right to pee inside.

Is
keeping them in a crate cruel?
Absolutely not and as a matter of fact it’s a much safer
way to keep an untrained and unknowing puppy from hurting itself.
This isn’t just a training issue this is also a safety issue.

How do you keep their teeth clean?
I keep
them clean by feeding my giants raw chicken everyday. The bones
in the chicken clean the teeth and keep them very white.

How
much does it cost to groom a giant?
Taking a giant to a groomer is very expensive and I recommend
you learn to do it yourself. If you mess up don’t worry it grows
back! Groomers groom in cookie cutter patterns and could butcher
your dog and make it not even look like a schnauzer. It’s best
if you do it and trim him up they why you like him.

Do
you really feed a raw diet?
I do
give some dry dog food but the bulk of my diet is natural food.

Why
not just give only kibble?
How
would you like to live on McDonalds everyday of your life? With
all the artificial flavoring, preservatives and colorings WHY
would you just feed all that to your dog day in and day out?
The chemicals in your dog food aren’t meant for human consumption…if
it’s not good enough for you why is it good enough for your family
member, best friend and companion?

Is
it all that hard to feed your diet?
No
and in fact it’s really easy. To put a few raw chicken leg quarters
in a bowl is no harder then slopping down a few cups of dry dog
food.
